Nanotechnology Artificial Meat Could Solve World Hunger – Researchers are saying that the problem of world hunger, which is expected to get increasingly worse over the next several years as the population grows to nearly 9 billion people by 2050, could be solved by using technology to create a more sustainable and wider food source.
The main proposal has to do with artificial meat, which the International Livestock Research Institute says could be created in large vats, and would take much of the strain off of current livestock which will be unable to keep up with the demands of the growing populace.
Dr. Philip Thornton has also said that other elements could be utilized in the world of technology, namely the use of nanotechnology to deliver medication to livestock, and increase their ability to give milk, to add to their current meat source.

Genetic engineering, and especially molecular engineering, could possibly be used for plant life, in order to increase what nutrients taken in, and so bump up their production. Already, this practice has been put in place with the use of certain pesticides and fertilizers, which change the plants capacity for growth.
The problem with these methods is the lack of knowledge about their effects. Not enough research has been done to tell the consequences of genetically modified food on a population becoming increaseing cancer-ridden and obese.
That research is being limited by multinationals who hold the majority of information and research data related to the practice, such as Monsanto, which refuses to offer up that info.
