Google Buzz Lawsuit Settled

Google Buzz Lawsuit Settled – The failed launch of Google Buzz has cost the company a lot of money in revenue, but the lawsuit has also cost a huge amount to settle, standing at an astounding 8.5 million dollars. Of course, for a company like Google who rakes in billions of dollars every single year this isn’t such a huge issue. It is unfortunate that the people filing the lawsuit did not do nearly as well as that, only getting roughly two and a half thousand dollars for their trouble. There were a lot of people who were really excited at the prospect of the release of Google Buzz.

However, there were many issues which I’m sure we are all now well aware of. One of the most anticipated features of Google Buzz was the social graph feature. This feature automatically creates a social graph based on users Gmail contacts. Of course, this caused several privacy issues. Firstly, for the most part, people would like their email contacts to stay private.

They are sent to an email inbox for a reason. If you wanted your information to be public then you would do it on a social networking website and not a private email inbox.

The lawsuit has now been settled. This particular lawsuit is likely to serve as a reminder of the mistakes that have been made on Google’s part for a long time to come. Let’s hop that there are no more mistakes like this to be made in the future.
